Hengyang Space Saver installation tips for Apartment Ventilation

Installation Tips for Ductwork

For the installation of rectangular ductwork, flexible ductwork, and egg crate grilles, follow these simplified guidelines:

1. Space Saver Rectangular Ductwork Installation:

  • Use the manufacturer’s joiners, bends, supporting clips, and end connectors.
  • Install ductwork for range hoods, toilets, and laundry grilles as specified in the mechanical drawings.
  • Ensure ductwork is fire-rated and complies with AS 1530.3 (1999) and AS 4254 (2002) standards.
  • Fit Space Saver ductwork within ceiling spaces as per the drawings.

2. Flexible Ductwork:

  • Keep the length of aluminium flexible ductwork to a minimum to prevent higher ESP and reduced airflows.

3. Kitchen Exhaust Connection:

  • Connect the kitchen exhaust to the Space Saver ductwork and range hood, ensuring it is separate from toilet and laundry ventilation.
  • Link to external weatherproof louvres as per the mechanical drawings.

4. Toilet and Laundry Ventilation:

  • Connect Space Saver ductwork to the ventilation systems as per the drawings.
  • Install ductwork to external weatherproof louvres according to the specified details.

5. Switches and Controls:

  • Place separate fan switches near light switches in the laundry and toilet to control fan extraction.
  • Kitchen range hood boosters will be operated by separate switches located adjacent to the range hood.

6. Ductwork Configuration:

  • Use Space Saver 90-degree or 45-degree vertical bends when ductwork needs to pass under existing beams, ensuring low airflow resistance and specified air delivery.

7. Sealing Joints:

  • Glue Space Saver plastic ductwork together with silicone or another suitable adhesive to ensure joints are sealed.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s installation recommendations using moulded clips.
  • Avoid using self-tapping screws for joining purposes.

By adhering to these tips, you can ensure a proper and efficient installation of your ductwork systems.
